Veeam Data Protection: Remote Cloud Backup for Remote Work

According to a recent survey by Owl Labs, nearly 70% of full time employees in the U.S. now work from home. Further, 84% feel that after COVID-19, the ability to continue doing so will make them happier, many adding they’d take a pay cut to work remotely. Further, in a survey of middle-market companies conducted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, roughly 50% said they’ve made remote work a permanent option for some employees on a full-time basis, and another 42% are considering doing the same.

Remote Work: Today’s Reality, and the Future

Remote work whether full-time or in a hybrid form is still evolving, having a grasp over the present, but a clear momentum heading into the future. Thankfully, advances in technology enable remote workforces to conduct business in a highly connected, efficient way. Still, critical data can be stored locally on home workstations, laptops and other devices, making cloud backup crucial for protecting against lost data, corruption, malware and disasters

Fortunately, we have a close relationship with the foremost company in this realm, Veeam Software. (Also, check out our ebook: Backup & Disaster Recovery Strategies for the New World of Work.

A part of the Veeam Cloud Backup and Data Protection Team

In a time of rapidly evolving business environments, rolling your own remote data protection can be costly, time consuming and resource draining. This requires a team approach, which is why we’ve long partnered with Veeam. Not only have they set the standard for modern data protection, they’ve assembled a who’s who of proven service provider partners, such as CyberFortress, keeping us up to speed on their full range of solutions so we can support businesses like yours.

And when it comes to remote workers, there’s some key areas that need particular focus, including:

Laptop Backup:

Valuable information is being left on personal devices. Veeam makes it easy and seamless to extend backup across your organization and bring it into the home. For starters, when it comes to Microsoft Windows workloads, Veeam Backup and Replication handles all endpoints, physical servers and failover clusters.

Secure Access

  • Connectivity is one thing, security is another. Veeam delivers both with secure access. In fact, they even offer a simple and free web-based tool for secure VPN networking.
  • Remote Management: No matter where workers are located, Veeam eliminates management complexity with centralized backup of laptops, supported by a single console. This allows optimum remote management, as well as compliance control and enhanced security.

Microsoft 365 Cloud Backup

With 50+ million subscribers, there are a lot of remote employees sharing, accessing and storing data in Microsoft 365. However, backing it up is the user’s responsibility. That’s why Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 was created. It eliminates the remote risk of losing access and control over data, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business and Microsoft Teams.
